Keeping Busy

The house is a little lonely when Mr. BB is gone. I just hate it. In order to keep my mind off of him being away, I've been working on some projects (and working... but ya know...). Mr. BB was driving to the Michigan on business so he wanted to take our GPS. I thought it would be nice to make a bag for it to be stored in while he's out of the car. I took some left over fleece from a previous project and made a two pocket bag with a flap.

I'm not proud of it (I've done better), but it serves it's purpose.

The other project is a wall quilt that I promised Mr. BB nearly two years ago. As you can see below it's three penguins on a blustery day.

I'm using the hand-dyed fabrics my MIL made and gifted me for the background, hats, scarves, mittens, noses/beaks, and feet.

And some close-ups of the hand-dyed fabrics.

I still get blue, but it's easier to get through the day when you stay busy!

A New Year Means a New Assessment of UFPs...

It seems - at least to me - like there is never enough time. As I reflected on the past year, it became blatantly clear that despite receiving two new machines for Christmas (2008) I spent virtually no time sewing or quilting. I blame my thesis (which is fully defended and submitted and no longer on my plate), but regardless I resolve to be more productive in the crafting arena this year. To that end, it is time to assess my unfinished/not-yet-started projects and create a list.
  1. Baby blanket and snugglie
  2. Four anniversary wall quilts
  3. Finish binding on pinwheel baby quilt
  4. Three Christmas stockings (barring any other family additions this year)
  5. Nine patch, Mother Goose baby quilt - need to finish piecing, quilt and bind
  6. Two Christmas wall quilts
  7. Witch and Candy wall quilt - all cut out, but needs to be pieced, quilted and bound.
  8. Haunted House large wall quilt
  9. Winter Penguins wall quilt
  10. Advent Calendar wall quilt
  11. Crocheted afghan
This is all I can remember for now. I'm sure more will come to me and when it does, I'll alter the list and note the changes. OK, this is the year!
