It seems like everyone I know is having babies. This past year produced a "bumper crop" of newborns. Sadly, because I was unemployed and working on my thesis for most of the year (quite literally) many of the babies received little more than an acknowledgement and a small gift. However, one baby received the following snugglie and crocheted blanket.
This is a quilt top I'd started this past summer for one of the many baby showers to which I'd been invited. At first I wanted to include all the colors of the printed materials (this photo shows solid green, yellow and pinks squares)...
but chose, instead, to replace the pink squares with white squares as the quilt originally was to go to a boy baby.
Here the top three rows have been sewn together.
The left side panel (and a kitty head).
The right side panel is sewn together.
And now all the panels are together.
That's as far as I've gotten so far. It's December and I still haven't gotten to quilting it. I plan to sew a white border around the center panel and I bought a flannel for the back that is primarily white with yellow and blue dots. I think it will look very nice when completed. Although, it looks like I won't be able to get to this project until January sometime. I will post pictures as I complete it. Right now I need to go back to work on the pink blanket I'm about halfway through - that little baby was born this morning!
